Welcome to 7th Grade Advanced and 6th GradeScience! My name is Anne Doane and this will be my seventh year of teaching middle school and my fourth year at ACMS. Previously I taught 7th and 8th grade Science and Algebra 1 at Circle Middle School. I am thrilled to again be part of the awesome teaching staff here at ACMS!
As a teacher I have come into to this profession through a “not-so-typical” path beginning when I graduated from K-State with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. I worked as a chemist in North Carolina for a few years and later moved back to Kansas to be closer to my family. After returning to Kansas I worked in the chemistry department at Wichita State University for several years. I am passionate about math and science and love challenging and inspiring young minds in these areas. I see amazing futures in my middle school students and I enjoy having the opportunity to show them the real-world applications of math and science.
On a personal level I am an “empty-nester” and have two grown children, a daughter who works and resides in Wichita and a son who is a 2014 graduate from K-State. I also have an amazing dog Riley who keeps me entertained. As a sports enthusiast of all kinds and at all levels, and can’t wait to support our ACMS Jaguar teams in their athletic events. I especially love cheering on my K-State Wildcats and the Tar Heels of North Carolina. My hobbies include playing tennis, golfing, cycling, working out, swimming and gardening. I look forward to getting to know your son or daughter and having some of my passion for math and science rub off on them throughout the school year.
