8th grade students had a wonderful time participating in a future-focused day! Activities included an opportunity to tour CAPS, time to meet with high school counselors about their four-year plan and a session with Office DeShaun Smith. The main attraction was Reality U. The students were given a scenario including their monthly income, marital and family status, credit card debt, and student loan information. Students had the opportunity to learn how their decisions affected their bottom line as they tried to make decisions that would not result in their check register falling below zero! Sometimes they had to return a “purchase” and make a different decision. That event actively engaged the students to help them understand the importance of education in their financial future. Overall, it was a fun-filled day of learning!
