Athletic and activity update for the week of April 8th.
ACMS Students were lucky to have great weather for the viewing of the total Solar Eclipse that occured on April 8th. The student were all given solar glasses for this event. What a great experience!
Congratulations to 7th grader Taylor Price for winning 3rd place in the BLICK Youth Art Month competition! Taylor's colored pencil drawing "Granny Candy" has been on display in Topeka for the month of March representing Andover Central Middle School for Youth Art Month. Her piece was also entered into the BLICK competition and out of 6 placements, and a very competitive middle school division, she earned 3rd place! Her and I both celebrated with her family at the Youth Art Month artists reception this weekend at the Topeka-Shawnee Public Library.
8th Grade Algebra 1 students launch water bottle rockets while studying quadratic equations. Beautiful day for rocket science in math class!
ACMS 8th graders got to participate in Reality U. This is a great experience for them to experience life when they are adults.
Please help us congratulate our Science Olympiad team for a 2nd place team finish at regionals (behind St. Thomas). This is the highest our MS team has ever scored.
The 6th Grade Social Studies classes had their Chinese Artifacts on display in the library.
The ACMS Science Olympiad teams competed at Wilbur Middle School.
ACMS sixth-graders in science began analyzing and dissecting frogs.

6th Grade students in Robotics class are using bumper, distance, and audio sensors to help their robots to drive over ramps and go through various mazes!
In 8th grade science, students are learning about how animal anatomy has changed over time due to factors like the environment.
Board members from The Foundation for Andover Schools, accompanied by high school cheerleaders, surprised teachers, counselors and principals with 2023-24 educator grants.
Students at ACMS kept up their strong tradition of honoring veterans with a program - as well as a generous donation!
